The LEED for Core and Shell Development (LEED-CS) green building rating system is designed for core and shell construction covering key elements such as building structure, envelope and systems such as HVAC. The rating system addresses key differences in responsibility between the building owner and tenant that vary between markets. The LEED-CS rating system is complementary to the LEED for Commercial Interiors rating system (LEED-CI).

The LEED-CS Version 2.0 rating system provides four levels of certification, designed on a points-based system;
